Eleven years ago, two young adults found one another and started hanging out.
She thought he was funny and cute, but also kinda stinky like boys usually are. He thought she was beautiful, made him laugh, and was pretty silly.
On a paper tablecloth, together we doodled what came out to be Skunk and the Muse. And since, it’s been our little project running in the background of life with three boys, on our little homestead, in the middle of everything we do.
This is our way of sharing our world with you, and what we are going through as a young family in hopes of deepening our community with you and offering support for anyone God may have us cross paths with.
Nathan has recently been diagnosed with CNS leukemia (central nervous system leukemia). This is leukemia that has crossed into the blood-brain barrier and is now causing disturbances within the central nervous system, reducing the autonomic functions of his body.
In June of 2022, he finished the final round of chemotherapy to treat the AML leukemia in his bone marrow discovered in November 2021. Test confirmations in July revealed he had achieved full remission.
CNS leukemia went undetected because it’s very rare that it occurs in patients in remission from AML. Suddenly reduced function of his throat, muscle spasms, slowed speech, and cognitive decline began to reveal this wasn’t chemo side effects.
As we enter Chapter 2 of treating this kind of leukemia, we are asking our community for help. We created a Go Fund Me page to help relieve the financial stresses on our family as the medical necessities begin piling in once again. In full transparency, we still haven’t recovered from the first round, and having to dive right back in only five months later is incredibly stressful not knowing what’s to come. For Nathan, knowing his family is relieved of financial stresses will bring his soul peace, allowing him to completely focus on healing and not worry about us. This will also allow us to purchase alternative healing treatments, massages, essential oils, and anything else needed to facilitate a wholesome and strong body.
All we truly desire is for our Skunk to be healed, for God’s miracles to be witnessed through Nathan, and to navigate this time without additional financial worries.
